What’s wrong with Lake George???
• There aren’t too many wetlands in the areas surrounding Lake George. But the ones that do exist are in very real danger because of the desire for development. As wetlands are home to a variety of creatures, and can reduce the likelihood of local flooding by controlling the rate of water runoff, this is a serious issue. • Many of the streams that feed into Lake George have become contaminated with man made chemicals such as fertilizers, pesticides, yard wastes, sand, salt, pet wastes and sometimes sewage. The chemicals seep into the streams through runoff, thus polluting the lake. Want to know something even more gross???
