Whats wrong with demanding that “charity” hospitals do charity work?
Illinois, Attorney General Lisa Madigan is attempting to pass legislation that would require non-profit hospitals to actually do non-profit work. In exchange for not having to pay income or property taxes because they are technically charities, Madigan wants the hospitals to spend at least 8 percent of their annual operating costs on charity care.
