Whats worse a root canal or getting your wisdom teeth pulled?
I’ve had a wisdom tooth pulled and a root canal done. The wisdom tooth was abscessed so it came out really easily and the hole healed up in 3 days. The root canal hurt and the dentist didn’t do it properly so the other root of the tooth rotted out a few years later, causing a fair bit of pain. Then most of the tooth fell off and the dentist took it out. Three different dentists were involved in the two extractions and the root canal. Today I got the quote for some dental work. It was going to cost $3500 to do a root canal and crown on one of my far back top teeth but $165 to have it extracted. As I don’t have a lot of money and don’t want to fiddle around with having a root canal on a very back tooth, I said I want to have an extraction and have an appointment to get it done next week. I will also be having some old amalgam fillings replaced with glass ionomer fillings but given my finances, this will probably take at least 4 months or so to complete.
