Whats with VA State Troopers?
Y “When Do We Eat” Y. says: In these times of economic uncertainties, I wonder if more State Troopers have been placed on the roads to generate more revenue. While drivers who do not obey the speed limit should be fined, it is almost ridiculous when in the short stretch of 30 miles on the I-95 between the Capital Beltway and Richmond, I counted not less than 7 cruisers engaged in traffic stops! Werent there recent articles saying how dangerous these stops were for the troopers as they risk being run over by passing cars at road stops? If they are really concerned about speeding, won’t it be safer for drivers and troopers alike to put in speed cameras / gantries? I am just wondering if the stopped drivers were really super speeders or if they were just ions above the speed limit. If you have a fancy car with “cruise control” I suppose you could set the speed to reflect the 65 mph. But if you have to be constantly watching the speedometer and the road, it can be dangerous as well. Hmmm,
