Whats with the pretension and “rock star” attitude in modern music?
Mainstream rock is stuck in generic emo shite right now. Please call back later. It’s all about influences. First you get the original band, the trend setters who may have something new (talking a while back here.) Then you get the people influenced by this, so you get some heavily worn influences, but a bit of creativity. Then you get the people who miss the original band completely and imitate the band before them. And then you get those bands strutting around proclaiming that they are the next big thing, where songs are written as singles and the rest of the album is like a fill in the blanks. You still get honest songs, just means more of a look for them. I’m not complaining too much though, the more music that sounds the same there is, then the bands that are actually original and doing their own thing have the chance to shine. Not everyone will appreciate them because they don’t look like girls and don’t write music about how bad life is, but ****, atleast they get noticed. All t
