Whats with the glass blocks in the banister?
“I wanted to change the whole banister. I was calling contractors to put in wrought iron at first. These guys were talking $2,000, $5,000. I found one person who wanted $1,500. And I was going to go for it, because I really wanted to change the whole look of the banister. It was just a basic banister with the wood, you know, and I was tired of looking at it. So I called the guy to come out to give him a deposit, and he never showed up. I really like using glass blocks. And I wanted to use glass blocks somewhere else in the house, but I couldn’t figure out where. Then it just came to me–I’ll just build my own banister. So I took the whole thing apart and rebuilt it. I get a lot of compliments on it. It’s unique. You don’t see a lot of glass-block banisters.” What do you use the yard for? “This is where I do my socializing.
