Whats with all this talk about defective Casio E-200 devices?

When the Casio E-200s were first introduced, a number of owners reported burned out backlighting, spontaneous hard-resets, dust under the screens, problems with wireless network cards, and battery charging problems. I myself experienced a burned out backlight and had to send my device back to Casio for a replacement. Digesting all that I’ve read on the various discussion forums over the past few months, it appears that devices with serial numbers starting with 0AP, 1AP, and 2AP could potentially have problems. The latest batch of E-200 devices have a 5AP starting serial number which should have all of the previously mentioned problems fixed. I’ve only read one report of a 5AP device having a burned out backlight. I’ve also read some messages stating that the 5AP serial number doesn’t signify whether you have a “good” or “bad” device.
