Whats with all these flushes I keep hearing about? Are they really necessary?
There are a whole lot of different flushes which can be performed on your vehicle: brake, power steering, transmission, coolant, and more; and theyre all a vital part of vehicle maintenance. Your owners manual can tell you when (at what mileage) your specific vehicle might need a flush. But except under certain circumstances, you should only need to do any flush at the specified mileage your manufacturer recommends. Indeed, flushes (transmission flushes in particular) done on a poorly-maintained vehicle can often compromise the integrity of the system or part thats being flushed by breaking apart loose and/or decaying debris within the system/unit, making it worse than it already is.
