Whats War Childs position regarding failed/fragile states?
More international attention has been focused on failed states in recent years – but a lot of this has been driven by a security agenda. There’s been a growing awareness that failed states can often provide good breeding grounds for terrorist activities (Somalia, Yemen, Afghanistan for example). But that’s not the only reason to be interested in them. It’s clear that if the world is serious about meeting the Millennium Development Goals then more attention and investment must be allocated to failed states. We’re pushing to put children in failed states at the heart of the agenda and to make sure that their needs and rights are met.
