Well, once we got the rights back, I was determined to get “TNOT” released with a good transfer. You see, the 35 mm print looked great in the theaters. However, on video we had a problem with the framing and had to blow the film up a lot. Therefore, on video and laser, the film looked like crap. Heads were chopped off at the top of the screen. The whole video looked grainy and cheap. Yes, the film was low-budget but it never looked this bad. Unfortunately, people seeing the film on video and cable only saw this transfer and a lot of the reviews commented on the cheap look; washed out colors, grainy images, etc… So, I’ve always been unhappy with the version that exists. For this DVD and video, we were finally able to go make to the original negative and remaster the film, keeping the original aspect ratio 1.77.1. It makes a huge difference.
