Whats up with Red and Blue Superman?
Superman lost his powers when a villain named Sun Eater ate the sun. Even Hal Jordans final redemptive act of reigniting the sun didnt restore his powers. Eventually, Superman’s powers started coming back, but they manifested in strange new ways, and eventually Superman became a being of blue energy. The best theory of why this happened assumes that when the sun went out, Clarks body was forced to start taking in ambient energy from another source, namely the electromagnetic field around the earth. Superman, in his new form, could switch between being Clark Kent and being Superman. As Clark Kent he was a regular human. As Superman he was pure energy with electro-magnetic powers. An attempt on his life instead split Superman into two people: Red and Blue Superman. They each had all of Superman’s powers, and could turn into Clark. Red was care-free and Blue was serious.
