Whats up with food containers, BPA, phthalates, PVC, and other ethylmethylbadstuff?
bis-phenol A is a chemical that is used in the production of certain plastics, and then to leach out of those plastics over time. None of the Lunchsense food containers or boxes have BPA – the plastics used in our containers are polyethylene (plastic code #2) and polypropylene (#5). Phthalates are a group of chemicals used to soften plastics, and are believed to have harmful health effects. None of the Lunchsense food containers have phthalates – the sealling gasket is silicone, which is free of phthalates. PVC is a plastic used to make plastic wrap and other items, and contains phthalates. None of the Lunchsense line has PVC, and the boxes themselves are not vinyl-lined.
