Whats unique about the assessments ACC offers?
The assessments themselves are not unique at all. They are nationally standardized tests used by psychologists all over the country. What is unique about the tests is the fact that ACC is making them available to the public through an educational format. If a psychologist in a medical setting administered the tests, it is likely that she would be looking for a medical diagnosis. Students can be tested by their individual schools, but there, the educational team would usually be looking to see if the student qualifies for special services. Some tutoring facilities offer testing, but not cognitive testing with interpretation by a qualified psychologist. At ACC, any parent can decide to have their child tested, and the psychologist’s interpretation of the results is centered on finding ways to utilize the student’s cognitive strengths to facilitate success in school.
