Whats “Trolling”, then?
} A Troll is usually a post with the singular intention of eliciting a generalized negative reaction. For instance, a “You All Suck” post can be considered a Troll, since it has no specific target and is merely an attempt to piss everyone off at once. Another common variety of Troll is one in which a poster tries to incite one person (or group) to begin Flaming another person (or group). This is more malicious than the first example, since it often involves parties who wouldn’t under normal circumstances be Flaming each other. The Troll which most Flamers prefer to employ is one which will generate a wanted response from a particular target. Such as: If you know someone is homophobic, and that by subtly insinuating they are queer you can send them into apoplectic fits, it makes for convenient cover (distracts the hell out of them) while you set up your *real* attack. Succumbing to the urge to respond to a Troll is known as “taking the bait”. This is true whether it was an obvious Troll
