Whats to stop someone from stealing my idea?
We have no interest in stealing your script or treatment and neither do our readers, and contrary to industry myth, neither does Hollywood – it’s much easier to option a script than it is to deal with the expense of legal issues. For these reasons, theft within the industry is a rare occurence. Your work will be looked at by many people once you start sending it out, many more than you might realize, so it’s best to relax and realize that is part of the submission process. It is, however, your responsibility to protect your work and we strongly urge you to do this before you send it anywhere. The WGA and U.S. Copyright Office are both excellent resources for this.
