Whats this I hear about having to get a new, energy efficient boiler from 2005?
As part of the Government’s plan to reduce global warming/CO2 emissions, most new boilers fitted after April 2005 will have to be High Efficiency Boilers with a SEDBUK rating of ‘A’. This rating simply refers to the energy efficiency of the appliance. These boilers are usually of the Condensing type. They will be more expensive to buy but they’re more efficient reducing both gas bills and carbon dioxide emissions. The new legislation has not been finalised yet and there may be a few exceptions, but for the most part, all new boilers installed after April 2005 will have to be condensing boilers. This includes replacing an old boiler within an existing system. Information on the changes in legislation can be found on the Heating and Hot Water Information Council’s website.
