• A: Qemu itself is open source (as a matter of fact, libqemu which contains most of the work is LGPL, other parts are GPL I think). KQemu (the Qemu Accelerator Module, don’t confuse it with the Qemu GUI called KQemu 🙂 is an addition which is (license-wise) not connected to Qemu, although it’s written by Qemu’s initial developer – Fabrice Bellard. You can use Qemu perfectly well without KQemu and thus have a completely open source program, but KQemu will improve speed. More info on KQemu can be found at [14].
