Whats the youngest case of lung cancer due to smoking?

0

There is no way to know this. We believe that ~ 90% of lung cancers are caused by smoking, but no one can tell whether a lung cancer was caused by smoking or not. There are still 10% or so that occur without a smoking history. So no one can possibly answer this question as stated. I can tell you that only ~3% of lung cancers occur in people under age 45, and the average age of people with lung cancer is near 70. It would be extremely unusual for a 24 year old to develop lung cancer due to smoking at that age. I figure the average patient I saw with lung cancer had smoked about half a million cigarettes and was >65 years of age.
