Well, I guess I have very low parenting standards because I think “for god’s sake Kevin, I should have swallowed you” is kind of funny. Not hilarious but sounds like a snide comment any angry, frustrated parent would say. It’s not quite the same as saying “I hate you and I wish I had never conceived you”. Unless something like that is said to the child every day and with different, aggressive words, I doubt that little angry phrase could cause much damage. I’m not one to overhear conversations from strangers with their kids but one time I saw a very exasperated mom storm out of the principal’s office while I waited, muttering that her life has been nothing but misery since her daughter came along. I bet that woman had powerful reasons to say that and deep down she was just letting out some steam, but her daughter was walking right behind her. Whatever problem the young girl could have caused, and I know teenagers bring terrible crap sometimes, that was not a constructive comment. My fe
