Whats the worst case scenario as regards copyright ownership?
Because of the type of organisation we are and because we are in line with global practices, we’re very careful when it comes to intellectual property and copyright ownership. With some of our Nollywood films, because of the ownership structures which sometimes are peculiar, we have had challenges. But we have had very good cooperation from the community in helping us understand who owns what at any given time. But I think we’ve been able to resolve any issue that may have come up pretty quickly, and there’s really no worst case scenario. What issues around regulation do you think should be addressed? We are a pan African content provider and our content goes across many countries with various beliefs and cultures. I think it is important that even if we’re not regulated, we self-regulate. I’m more interested in self-regulation than external regulation because I feel that by the time I’m regulated externally, I haven’t done my internal regulation well.
