What’s the Wanda’s Will workshop about?
The first of these quarterly legal workshops will debut on Saturday, March 18, 2006. The Wanda’s Will Project not only educates the LGBT community on the importance of documenting your wishes to protect your rights, it will foster free legal workshops that initiate the course of action ultimately leading to will execution. Workshop curriculum includes living wills, adoption, health-care power of attorney, property agreements, guardianship, taxes, body disposition, and HIPAA laws. It is specifically designed to remove both the financial and emotional barriers to will execution and utilizes attorneys working pro bono to host the workshops. It also advocates follow-up estate planning consultation with lawyers at pro bono or significantly reduced rates for individuals of modest means. This ensures these services are available to the entire LGBT community regardless of economic status or income.
