Whats the update on the Kashmir issue?
It’s a complex issue. It’s not possible to give you a straight answer in a few sentences. It’s an issue which has divided India and Pakistan for decades. It has brought conflicts and wars. We have serious differences over the issue. I think in the last few years, our policy changed and leaders of the two countries realized that a solution is necessary. We have made some progress with it and we are trying to normalize relations. There has been progress on some cases. For example, trade has been increased between the two countries. People-to-people contact increased. Even getting a visa to India was impossible for an ordinary Pakistani before, but now it has become very easy. We have now train and air services between the two countries. Banks are also allowed to open branches so there is hope for the first time that this will lead to an enduring peace and possibly a settlement of the Kashmir issue which will take into account the wishes of the Muslim people of Kashmir.
