Whats the Total Antioxidant Capacity?

0

The total antioxidant capacity refers to a full spectrum of antioxidant activity against various reactive oxygen/nitrogen radicals. Brunswick total antioxidant capacity assays are focused on the non-enzymatic antioxidants against peroxyl radical (ROO), hydroxyl radical (HO), singlet oxygen (1O2) and peroxynitrite (ONOO-). Currently, we have successfully developed and validated the following assays: * ORACROO (water-soluble) (Ou, et al, 2001): To quantify water soluble antioxidant capacity against peroxyl radical * ORACROO (fat-soluble) (Huang, et al, 2001): To quantify fat soluble antioxidant capacity against peroxyl radical. * ORACHO (Huang, et al, 2002): To quantify antioxidant capacity (mainly water soluble) against hydroxyl radical The methods for antioxidant activity against 1O2 and ONOO- are under development.
