Whats the story behind the Brian Wilson episode?
“It’s kinda true. I’d been asked if I’d be interested in writing songs for the Wilson girls about a year ago. The carrot in front of the donkey was that Brian Wilson and Tony Asher was working on the album as well, producing it. In around about way, I suppose it is true, I would have been working with him if I’d have done it. But it was a toss up between that and recording ’18 Carat’. It would have been a great thing to say, I worked with Brian Wilson but I would have been no further forward in what I really want to do. I probably would have been known then in the kind of, song writers circles, I wanted to do my own thing, you know? I feel at the moment the best person to sing a song I write is me.
