It is a tribute to lost friends and family to the reaper, really. The brass suited it is all. The trumpet can be beautiful but it can be haunting as well. It is a lovely melody on the trumpet if I do say so myself – I didn’t play it of course but I had the idea of the opening melody line played by Jodie Kell. She then took it somewhere further and better. In addition to Jodie, we also had her brother Andy on sax and Jeff Crawley on trumpet. They played on “spy themes 1, 2 and 3” and on “Get Steady” which was going for The Jam meets soul vibe. And they nailed it every time and are lovely people.
