Whats the story behind “Grandmas Theme” off the Scarecrow album?
John’s grandmother, Laura sings the song on the album. She often sung this song to John and his cousins when they were babies, and thus the song has been a cherished memory of the Mellencamp family. Though no credit is given on the album, what is used is an excerpt taken from “In the Baggage Coach Ahead”; a 1896 folk song by Gussie L. Davis.
