Enemas are no longer given unless you ask for one. They do not shave your pubic hair and if you ask they will allow you to hold your baby for a minute before whisking them away to be cleaned and weighed. But once they are done and you are done with labor (the placenta) and any episiotomy (sp?) they will allow you to nurse your baby. I have heard stories that pain medications are ordered by doctors and women always get them (epidurals), but I never received one and my doctor did once have the anesthesiologist come in, but I just sent him away.
