Whats the song “bohemian rhapsody” about?
This song was written in 1975, way before AIDS was discovered in the early 80’s. There is much speculation on what this song is about; some people think it is about Freddy coming out as gay to his mother, while others say it is about Freddy and his family having to leave their native Zanzibar. Brian May, Queen’s guitarist, said on the Queen Videos Greatest Hits DVD, “What is Bohemian Rhapsody about, well I don’t think we’ll ever know and if I knew I probably wouldn’t want to tell you anyway, because I certainly don’t tell people what my songs are about. I find that it destroys them in a way because the great thing about about a great song is that you relate it to your own personal experiences in your own life.” I don’t know what the song is really about, and I don’t really care. It’s one of the greatest songs in rock ever, and I love it.
