They always refer to him as Smoke Monster when he is in the smoke form. They also refer to him as MIB, Flock (assume that smoke monster and lock are the same being since some people thing they are 2 different being since we do not Lock turn into Smoke Monster). I not seen this recently but one show last season or beginning of this season, they referred to MIB as Esau as well. There was one where it starts out showing Jacob and him on the beach and he said he was going to kill him (Jacob) and that show when i started seeing Esau pop up in forms. But not seen anything this recent about it. Esau”; in the Bible a character named Jacob has a brother named Esau. “God loves you as He loved Jacob” is one of the phrases that flashes on the screen when Karl is undergoing the Ludovico-esque treatment. As Jacob is the name of the mysterious man/entity who touched the candidates, many fans immediately adopted the biblical reference of Esau for the unnamed other man/entity. [1]
