What’s the significance of animal sacrifice and the Eid-ul-Adha?
To slaughter an animal on Eid-ul-Adha is to show and signify solidarity upon the sacrifices of Ibrahim [alayhis salaam] and his submission to Allah. By slaughtering an animal, it is to inculcate in Muslims the quality of sacrifice for the Deen of Allah, like Ibrahim [alayhis salaam] was willing to sacrifice his household in a barren land upon the order of Allah. His eagerness to sacrifice his son to fulfil the order of Allah and his eagerness to sacrifice himself so that the Oneness of Allah may prevail and idolatory may be abolished are the lessons in this annual sacrifice.
