Whats the scale used for depressing jazz music?

Really depends what key you are in. I think that to get a jazzy sound you need to do something modal as opposed to blues scales (using b5s). There are minor modes as well as major ones – modes of a minor scale. My theory is a little hazy at this point – I don’t think there are modes on the natural minor as that is already a mode of the major scale (aeloian being 3 semi tones down) I think the modes are built on the melodic minor scale. To check out what those modes are cf http://www.jazzguitar.be/melodic_minor_m… I know its a guitar sight but the theory is the same. Try maybe an aeolian b5 scale is the 6th mode of the melodic minor scale and I think just a natural minor scale with a blues note substituted and not added. Also have a go with the three minor scales or the diminished scale this would likely be a very depressing scale.
