Whats the rules on teachers touching pupils?
Teachers are made aware that it is impolite to touch a student……JUST AS STUDENTS SHOULD BE AWARE TO STOP DISRUPTING THE CLASS for the teacher to come back up to her and tell her that she was disrupting the class by tapping her on the arm she OBVIOUSLY WAS NOT LISTENING TO THE TEACHER. GROW UP LADY!!!! YOUR CHILD IS NO ANGEL!!!! She was embarrassed for being called out by the teacher and she made it into a big deal (like you did when you went to the head………..(the head probably just shook their head thinking “like mother like daughter”) Tell your kid to pay attention in class and stop being a brat.
You don’t say how old your child is. If she’s very young then tapping her on the arm may be something the teacher should try a bit further down the track after other attempts have failed. Perhaps that’s the case. The teacher had to resort to tapping as the child didn’t respond to other methods of changing her behaviour. Look at it from the teacher’s position. They’re alone. They’re up the front of the class. The kids often demonstrate gang mentality in class in as much as one kid does something then another may do something else and then another one or two may start up. Alone these may seem very petty things to react too but, when combined it can be a real distraction. I don’t think people realise what it’s like to be standing in front of a class of students everyday. Sure, if you can’t cut it then get out could be a good response for you to offer but, think about it. Schools need teachers. Kids need an education. Teachers are only human and respond to annoying, senseless irritations l
