Depends upon what kind of paint you used. If you used a water based interior latex paint, you can damp-sponge the walls (lightly!) with 1/2 gallon of water and a tablespoon of vanilla extract – after the walls have dried completely. Just dab and move on – don’t soak or rub. Also, you may have to open the windows and put a fan facing out – pulling the air out the room – for a day or two. Hip tip: next time you go to paint with interior latex, stir in a tablespoon of vanilla (or orange or lemon or your favorite flavor) extract into the paint before you use it on your walls. Sounds silly, but it works. If you used an oil based paint or enamel paint, all you can do is air the room out and wait. Oil based and enamel paints dry very slowly, sort of from the outside in, so they stink much worse and for much longer than interior latex.
