Whats the purpose of wiring standards in networks?
Wiring standards exist for the same reason standards in all areas exist. A standard way of doing things enables uniformity in training, testing, implementation, and troubleshooting. Additionally, equipment built in accordance with a standard allows vendor interoperability. Immagine a world where there were no standards for light bulb sockets. Each socket maker would make a different design – requiring a different design in the light bulb that would be used. Think of all the different style bulbs that server the same purpose stores would have to inventory to provide ample supply. This is a very small example of the problem when no standard exists but it drives the point home. Standards are common in all areas. Consider plumbing fittings and components, electrical wiring and outlets, lubricants (oils and greases), fasteners (nuts and bolts, screws, etc). All have standards and without them chaos would surely arise, greater inventory at greater inventory handling costs would be required,
