Whats the purpose of a cats tail and whiskers?
Whiskers are highly sensitive and are used to detect things in the air and in front of them. If you try touching a cat’s whiskers he pulls them back because they are so senstive and they can feel waves in the air. The tail is used for balance. If you cut a cats tail off (like some people do to siamese cats for beauty purposes) their balance is thrown off and they will not be capable of walking on the edge of a fence as a cat with a tail can. When a cat runs, their tail is up in the air of horizontal to their bodies to keep a straight path. This is true with dogs as well and if the tail is cut off they will wall or run off to one side. It may not affect all cats or dogs , but it does affect many. The balance of a cat is thrown off when you declaw them too. If a declawed cat falls from a high place, they have a hard time twisting themselves to land on their feet.
