Whats the PROPER procedure for jacking up a car/truck and putting it on jack stands?

When jacking the vehicle up from the front follow the front axle and jack it up from the middle of the car. Jack the car up far enough so that you can allow your jack stands to slide under….set your jack stands to preffered height just behind the tire where the axle is, all while making sure they are aligned straight and the car can settle on them as you slowly (very slowly) lower the jack. If it looks like the jack stands might not be aligned to the best angle to support the vehicle as it’s coming down, be sure to jack the vehicle back up and adjust them. If you don’t need to jack all four wheels off the gound at the same time then leave the jack holding the support of the car up for saftey all while having your jack stands in place for extra saftey. Before getting under the car find a block wood or something to block the rear tires with so that the car can not roll backwords by any chance. A nice thing to have are car ramps when you need to get one end of your vehicle in the air at
