Whats the problem with teens eating fast food?
Schlosser: The fast food companies target children and teenagers. These companies know that children and teenagers are developing eating habits they’re going to have for the rest of their lives. So the companies want to get people while they’re young so that they buy these foods for the rest of their lives. I have no problem with an adult getting a triple cheeseburger and a large order of fries if that’s what they want to do. But I think that these companies shouldn’t be marketing to children and young teens because eating this food can affect the rest of their lives. Have you ever seen a fast food ad that shows where the food comes from? You’ll never see a fast food ad with an obese person going to hospital for gastric bypass surgery. What they show is happy families and happy teenagers, and they’re all really thin. NYC: What do you want kids to do? Schlosser: I’m not trying to tell kids what to eat. I’m just trying to tell them what they are eating and what it could do to them. Hopef
