Whats the price of a cartoon or an illustration?
• The price of a cartoon or an illustration depends to the technique used and to the difficulty to make it. A cartoon (or an illustration) in black and white will cost less than the same coloured. We must consider also the time to make a cartoon (or an illustration): quick sketch (to study the scene), sending of it to the client for the approval, possible modifications, documentation (the drawer cannot draw mentally, but he must absolutely document himself about the background to draw), possible studies of objects/characters to draw, penciling, inking, possible colouring. Obviously, the size of the drawing influences the prize. Generally, the humorous cartoons will be make in A4 format maximum, while the illustrations don’t have a maximum size. Last, but not least, you must consider the costs of the materials and the tools used to draw: pencils, rubbers, inks, album, colours.
