What’s the Port Authority’s role in preparation of the EIS?
The Port Authority is the project sponsor proposing the replacement of the Goethals Bridge as part of its Goethals Bridge Modernization Program. As the project sponsor, the Port Authority has contracted with a consultant team under the direction of the Coast Guard to provide the planning, environmental, and engineering services necessary to prepare the EIS. The Port Authority, as applicant for a Coast Guard bridge permit, will provide necessary traffic and design input to the EIS.
