What’s the point of picking up litter?

0

Litter breeds litter – if there is rubbish lying around, someone will drop some more. The opposite is also true. If an area is litter-free, people are less likely to drop litter. When others see you picking up a piece of litter, it sends a message that ‘rubbishing’ won’t be tolerated by the community. Keeping an area tidy can also raise the whole tone of a neighbourhood. We all know from everyday experience that once an area starts looking run-down, it attracts further vandalism and disrespect.
