Whats the origin of the name Alfie?
(Laughs.) That’s a great question. The 1968 [1966] movie with Michael Caine by the same name – “Alfie.” My father saw the movie, liked the theme song – “What’s it all about, Alfie” – it’s a good song, and named me Alfred, but has called me Alfie my whole life for that reason. Now I hasten to say I am named after the song, not really the movie, because if you’ve seen the movie, the character in there is a despicable degenerate and you don’t want to be involved with him. But I am actually named after the song. How is the county’s role in economic development and analysis different from what the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce’s economic development is doing? The chamber has always been and continues to be the lead marketing agency for economic development in this county. They’ve done a great job over the years doing that, and we in no way want to take away from that responsibility.
