Whats the Opposite of “Classy?
” In December 2006, Scott Ableman and his co-workers decided to play a practical joke on a co-worker who drove a Jaguar and would park his car in very remote spots to avoid scratches and dings. Ableman and friends plastered the co-worker’s car with Post-It notes, took pictures of the resulting colorful design and posted them on Flickr. The whole thing turned into somewhat of a viral sensation with hundreds of thousands of views and counting. They have been blogged all over the world and were featured as the Yahoo! After all the completely free publicity generated for Post-It notes, representatives from 3M contacted Scott to ask if they could use the photos on back-to-school store merchandising. Scott asked what their budget was and the 3M representatives promptly wrote back and said they didn’t want to pay to use the photos.
