Whats the nicest place in Asia to visit?
Almost every country has a nicest place that fits your description. But, if in addition to not too touristy, you’d like to get by mostly in English, then I’d pick cities like Cochin (India), Penang (Malaysia), Chiang Mai (Thailand). In countries like China, Japan and South Korea you might consider hiring a guide if you want to get off the beaten path — the problem for western tourists in North Asia is that they don’t really use an alphabet — so every day things like street signs and train announcements are exceedingly difficult to decode, and it’s hard to find people with enough English skills to point you in the direction you want to go.
