Whats the most unusual or difficult question on the application?
Sometimes candidates miss the mark a little bit when writing about their most significant accomplishments. It’s not that their responses aren’t well-writtenit’s that candidates sometimes reflect on their whole lives and discuss things that happened a long time ago, but fail to bring it forward. They might, for instance, write about passing the CPA several years ago. That certainly is impressive, but students still don’t bring it forward. We like to see a fairly current example. We’re looking for what the candidate will add to the classroom. What do students say is the hardest part of the application process? I think sometimes candidates are surprised by how lengthy the whole process is. They may forget that the people they’ve asked to write recommendations for them are very busy and need time to turn in the letters. Students need to plan ahead. I think also they’re sometimes surprised by how important the interview is for us. We really want to get a good sense of who the applicant is.
