Whats the most serious pet health problem that kittens face?
Feline leukemia (FeLV) and feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV). The feline leukemia virus in particular is a death sentence for kittens that contract it. The American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) and the Academy of Feline Medicine (AFM) recommend testing all kittens by eight weeks of age for this virus before you bring a kitten home, especially if you have other cats at home. If the kitten tests positive, the test should be repeated and confirmed. Unfortunately, kittens who test positive live only a few weeks after the diagnosis is made.
