Whats the most interesting single case or transaction youve worked on at NWF?
Outsourcing our merchandise catalog. It was a huge licensing deal that required tons of time and effort. It involved layoffs in the Winchester area where we had to comply with the WARN Act and also really wanted to help employees transfer to the new buyer. It also involved getting out of, or grandfathering in, a number of other licensing arrangements; selling a 240,000 square foot warehouse; and many issues like figuring out who should buy inventory before knowing who would be selling it. We’re lucky that Weil Gotschal provided pro bono counsel — they were excellent. Another thing we did recently was revitalize a sister organization, National Wildlife Action. Among other things, they were active in the recent election cycle. We wanted to make sure that when people voted, they would take environmental issues into account.
