I guess it really depends on why the child is unhappy in the first place and the age of the child. We had problems with our daughter when we split up and her dad and I live 3 states away. She has 2 parents that love her to death and just want her to be happy and we tell her that all the time. She is more worried about hurting one of us when she chooses where she wants to live. We just tell her we both want whats best for you and for you to be happy. You are not hurting our feelings.
