Whats the most challenging exotic fruit to grow here?
I’d say the more tropical fruit, like breadfruit. Even our winters are too cold for it. I heard of someone who wraps Christmas tree lights around the trunk of their breadfruit. Not the LED lights, but the little ones. They put out a lot of heat and all you need is a few degrees. What’s the biggest challenge we face in the garden? Water. What’s the biggest mistake people make when planting fruit trees? They plant them too deep. People think they’ll put a little extra soil on it and it’ll be happy. But they never recover from that. I know their hearts are in the right places, but it hurts the trees. Whatever level it’s been growing in the pot, it should be growing in the ground. If anything, you should plant a little too shallow.
