Whats the mission of The Universal Black Pages (UBP)?
The primary purpose of the UBP is to maintain a comprehensive listing of African-diaspora-related Web pages at a central site. Business and Networking A secondary purpose of the UBP is to encourage development of categories and topics which are not currently available. The UBP facilitates this development by serving as a resource by which one can avoid duplication of effort. History The UBP was conceived and created by Alou Macalou and Larry Ward, two members of Georgia Tech’s Black Graduate Student Association’s (BGSA) Information Resources and Technology committee. Alou, Larry, and former BGSA president Derrick Brown launched The UBP as a commercial product of the company Black Graduate Student Infosystems, Inc., (BGSI) in January 1996. Derrick Brown solely assumed the joint responsibilities of Webmaster and Editor-in-Chief in August 1998.
