I don’t think the law provides an age specifically for this. But I think it would come under child endangerment. The best advice would be to have the child watch from a distance, someone who knows all the safety precautions. Then when the child is an adult, hopefully he/she will be able to recall or know enough to review how to do the job as safe as possible. In addition the tree might die as a result of the child’s trimming attempts, and then you will have a large bill to pay for the tree to be cut down and hauled away.
